Tu’upo is No. 11 in ’ composite rankings of the state’s class of 2027 and committed to Texas in June over Alabama and Auburn. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound cornerback has a 3.6 GPA and recorded 66 tackles, three interceptions and seven pass breakups while helping Thompson win the AHSAA 7A state championship in 2025. “Junior is one of the most versatile defensive backs in the country, who came onto the scene for us in a big way last season,” Warriors coach Mark Freeman said. “He’s fast, physical and can take the entire side of the field away. He’s a leader for us on the back end, and his ability to communicate and high football IQ are vital for our defensive success on the back end. Junior plays primarily corner but has started games at safety and nickel as well. Junior’s approach to the game is what sets him apart. He plays with a ton of passion and is one of the hardest workers in our program.”
